Utrecht Canal Pride

The Utrecht Canal Pride is the biggest non-commercial Pride in the Netherlands, and the second biggest Pride in the Netherlands in general, with around 25.000 visitors per edition.

The Utrecht Canal Pride, unlike for example the Canal Pride in Amsterdam, is strictly non-commercial, meaning that no large companies may participate in the Pride. Only small, Utrecht-based companies with a strong LGBTQIA+ affiliation and non-profit organisations are allowed to participate in the parade. As is common with Prides in the Netherlands, the Utrecht Canal Pride is a boat parade, with boats forming a parade through the Oudegracht canal in the city centre of Utrecht. It takes place every first weekend of July.

Here you can see photos from the 2019 edition, the last one to date due to the corona crisis (the 2020 edition was cancelled and this post was written in April 2021).
